Charleston® Cookie Company, LLC is proud to announce that its founder, Judith Moore, has been chosen as a recipient of the 2009 Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina Women of Distinction Award and will be honored at an awards ceremony in Charleston on April 17, 2009.
"Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina honors women from our twelve southern counties (who make a difference in their local communities at the annual Women of Distinction event. The Women of Distinction Award is presented in recognition of those women who have demonstrated significant achievement in their fields of endeavor, made contributions affecting their local and/or broad communities and acted as positive role models for today’s young women, who will one day follow them." After founding the Charleston® Cookie Company in 2003, Ms. Moore has continued to support entrepreneurship among women in the Charleston area by participating in and supporting such organizations as the Center for Women which offers a wide variety of programs for women in the Charleston area, and YESCarolina, a grass-roots non-profit established to encourage entrepreneurship among disadvantaged South Carolina students. As a member of the board of the Charleston Chamber of Commerce, she has also served to provide a role model and mentor for women in the Charleston area seeking to start their own businesses.
Ms. Moore states, "Giving back to the community is among the significant values critical to the staff of our small and growing company. We strive to serve in any way we can to help other organizations and individuals achieve their dreams and goals. It is a great honor to receive the Women of Distinction Award from the Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina."
